Arts in Harmony: A Festival of Art, Music and The Spoken Word

please join us Saturday June 3rd 10-5 and Sunday June 4th 10-4, to celebrate the world of art all around us. This year’s festival will include:

Celebration of the Written Word with various fabulous authors sharing their knowledge, readings and discussions throughout the weekend. Some of the authors participating are Kaylie Jones, J Patrick Redmond, Patricia A Smith, Mark Thompson and many more! There will also be a Poet’s Corner (come and hear Indiana ‘s Poet Laureate Shari Wagner!), children’s authors/readings and student writers/aspiring author’s open mic event and a presentation from The New Harmony Project.

Music with a wonderful lineup including Kayla Smock (blues/folk), Ronnie Lee (class rock), Osiella, Brett Gibbs Trio plus the 2012 Gibson Blues Guitar Competition National Winner the Boscoe France Band!

Art. Over 50 talented artists will be displaying and selling their work along Granary Street and in the Owen-Rapp Granary. Enjoy viewing beautiful works of pottery, photography, painting, woodcarving and more!

11:00AM—Celebration of the Written Word Author Presentations begin with Kaylie Jones, J Patrick Redmond, and Patricia A Smith

1:30PM—Poets Corner: Readings and discussions by Local and Regional Poets, featuring Shari Wagner, Indiana’s Poet Laureate.
3:00PM—Student Writers: Open Microphone to feature selected local college and aspiring authors (USI, UE, etc.)
5:00PM—Festival closes

SUNDAY, JUNE 4TH

10:00AM—Festival opens
12:30PM—Celebration of the Written Word Presentations begin, featuring Children Stories from the Working Man’s Institute
1:15PM—Mark Thompson Publishing and Local Children Authors
2:00PM—The New Project Presentation
1:30PM—Music begins with the Wolfgang Mozart Dixieland Jazz Band
2:30PM—Brett Gibbs Trio
4:00PM—Festival closes

Arts in Harmony will also feature children’s activities, food trucks, and a fun-packed day in historic New Harmony! Come and enjoy this FREE festival!

Golden Raintree Antiques Show & Sale

 

Mark your calendar for this summer’s pop up antique show & vintage fair sponsored by the New Harmony Business Associates. It is located downtown on Main Street in historic New Harmony, Indiana and inside the beautifully restored Ribeyre Gym/Event Center. The 16th Annual Golden Raintree Antiques Show is one of the largest antiques and vintage shows in the tri-state area and has for sale, everything from vintage turquoise jewelry to architectural salvage. You will find Stoneware, Estate Jewelry, Americana, Cast Iron Cookware and kitchen glass like fire king – Jadeite, textiles like vintage quilts and decorative country store like advertising signs and tins.

Invited are established dealers in the antique world that travel from 6 states and specialize in the items that they sell. Do not miss this year’s show that happens rain or shine with free admission, Saturday June 10th 9-5, Sunday June 11th 9-4.
