Traditional July 4th Celebration

The 4th of July Celebration begins at 10:00 a.m. with patriotic speeches, music, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence, at the Atheneum Visitors Center, free and open to the public. 

The festivities move to Maclure Park in New Harmony where the community picnic and decorated golf cart parade will begin at 11 a.m.  Music will be provided by the Red Bank Reunion Band.  The picnic will have hot dogs, hamburgers, bratwurst, cobbler and ice cream for sale.  Games and free root beer will be available for everyone.

9 th Annual Golden Raintree Auto Show & Shine and town wide yard sale. The town wide yard sale begins at 8am. You can pick up a map of participants at the Old Mill Mart, 1128 E Church Street as you enter New Harmony.

Celebrate springtime at Arts in Harmony, an open-air festival of art and fine crafts, on Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2, 2009. Hosted by the artists and the business community of historic New Harmony, Indiana, the festival will be held outdoors, rain or shine, at Church and Main streets, New Harmony, IN, on Saturday, May 1, from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 2, from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. Admission is free.

 

Dozens of regional and national artists will be showing and selling their work. You'll discover a wealth of art and crafts, from paintings, glass, sculpture, and jewelry to pottery, basketry, woodcarvings, and furniture.   Artists are selected based on creativity and craftsmanship; commercial molds, kits and commercially fabricated forms are not permitted in the show.  All of the work is handmade and all of the artists will be present to talk about their artwork or demonstrate their skills.

Music will also be an important component to the festival. Nationally known and critically acclaimed recording artists will share the bill with homegrown talent.  On Saturday at noon Evansville music and performance group Tales and Scales will perform, followed by the Matt Flinner Trio at 1 p.m. and Circle of Friends at 3 p.m.  On Sunday Randy Pease will perform at noon followed by Dana and Susan Robinson at 1:30 p.m.
